Further information
Carbon printing is considered as the king of all photographic printing processes. The translucency of pigmented gelatin gives carbon print a unique look of silky tonality. This workshop will be a beginner’s level into the carbon printing process from a film negative.
We will be doing a single layer, single transfer carbon print process. We will use a DAS sensitiser that is a safer alternative to traditional dichromates. Carbon printing is a contact copy process and we will be using 4×5″ negatives. You will be given the film negatives upon which carbon tissues will be calibrated, but these negatives will remain with you as a reference for your own work.
